YouTuber Aun Ali Khosa’s attorney stated on Monday that his client, who was allegedly kidnapped on August 15, had returned home safely.
Last Friday, the Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered the Lahore police to confirm Aun Khosa’s recovery by August 20.
Binish Iqbal, Khosa’s wife, submitted a petition claiming her husband was in the “illegal and unlawful custody of law enforcement authorities,” and this led to the ruling.
Iqbal had voiced serious worries about her husband’s security, thinking he would be a victim of an enforced disappearance.
The petition made clear that in the early hours of August 15, Khosa—a well-known maker of digital entertainment with 137,000 YouTube subscribers—was taken out of his residence.
The petition claims that about a dozen police officers and anonymous guys dressed in civilian clothes broke into Aun Khosa’s home and took his computer, digital camera, laptop, and phone.
The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) expressed concern over the reported kidnapping of Khosa and speculated that it may be connected to his satirical writing.
Khosa’s attorney, Khadija Siddiqi, declared on X just after midnight on Monday that her client had been let free and returned home.
Another of his attorneys, Mian Ali Ashfaq, attested to Khosa’s safe return and said he had a detailed conversation with him.
