A tragic incident unfolded at the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), where 20-year-old Muqaddas lost her life after donating part of her liver to save her ailing father.
The family has accused the hospital of medical negligence, stating that doctors initially assured them of Muqaddas’ recovery despite her deteriorating condition. However, they claim that at 2 am, the hospital asked them to take her away. She was later laid to rest in her hometown, Shujaabad.
The heartbreaking news also took a toll on her father’s health, causing further distress to the grieving family.
GIMS Director Dr. Rahim Bakhsh Bhatti stated that he was unaware of the incident but would respond after an inquiry. He added that such cases occur in one out of every 200 liver transplants.
