PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan will be released from jail after today’s verdict by Islamabad court, according to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan.
Social media and analysts are divided on the opinion on Imran Khan’s release. Legally Imran Khan is not required to stay in jail in any other case. Former prime minister is currently on bail in Cipher case and Toshakhana case.
An Islamabad district and sessions court accepted the appeals filed by former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi against their conviction in the Iddat case.
Additional district and sessions judge Afzal Majoka announced the judgment after reserving the much awaited verdict earlier in the day.
“If they are not wanted in any other case, then PTI founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi must be released [from jail] immediately,” the judge declared after approving their appeals.
PTI welcomes the decision by Islamabad court, called it victory for democracy. PTI lawyer and leader Barrister Ali Zafar said that there is no hurdle in release of PTI founder Imran Khan.
