Taxpayers across Pakistan are facing delays due to the slow response of the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) online system. September 30 is the deadline and many are expressing concern over this issue.
Reports indicate that the FBR’s system has been struggling with the heavy influx of users, making it difficult for people to file their returns in time.
In response to the mounting pressure, the FBR is reportedly considering recommending an extension of the deadline to Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
A final decision will come once Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif returns from his current engagements.
As of September 28, taxpayers have filed over 290,000 returns, significantly higher than last year’s 140,000 submissions.
However, the system’s slow performance continues to be a source of frustration for many taxpayers.
To alleviate the situation, the FBR has extended operational hours at its field offices, ensuring they remain open longer to assist the public during this critical period.
