The reason behind Justice Muneeb Akhtar leaving the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) meeting, which was chaired by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, has come to light.
The sources said that Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar was not present at the Judicial Commission meeting.
They said that before the break in the meeting, there was an exchange of words between Justice Muneeb Akhtar and Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan.
The sources revealed that Justice Muneeb Akhtar asked whether the constitutional amendment was mentioned in the previous meeting, and asked details about the proposed constitutional amendment.
According to the sources, the Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan responded that only the Law Minister could answer this question, stating that the Judicial Commission does not have the authority to ask such questions from the government.
After the Attorney General’s response, Justice Muneeb Akhtar left the meeting, sources added.
