Ismail Haniyeh was heading the political bureau of Hamas. He was considered as the most prominent leader of the organization that holds the control of Gaza since long.
Haniyeh was living in exile in Turkey, Qatar and Iran.
He served as prime minister of Palestine in 2006. Hamas has elected him as head of its political bureau in 2017.
He married to her cousin at the age of 16 years. He had 13 children (eight sons and five daughters).
Israeli forces killed three of his sons and four grandsons in an air-strike in 2024.
Yahya Sinwar:
He is among the top leaders of Hamas. His whereabout are unknown since the beginning of Israel-Palestine war in October 2023.
Reports say Sinwar orchestrated the 7 October raid on Israel which killed about 1,200 people and led to the kidnappings of 200 people.
Sinwar later disappeared from Gaza and Israel security agencies are trying for find his whereabouts. His name was blacklisted as international terrorist in 2015.
Mohammed Deif:
Dief is also key leader of Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the Hamas military wing. Israel imprisoned him in 2000, but he escaped from jail.
Marwan Issa:
Issa is the deputy commander-in-chief of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades. Reports say he was killed in Israeli attack in 2024. Many describe him as the right-hand man of Deif.
Khaled Meshaal:
One of the founding leaders of Hamas, Khaled Meshaal born in the West Bank Palestine in 1956. He was living in Jordon when Israel secret service tried to kill him in 1997. He currently lives in Qatar.
