Hasan Iqbal Chishti, a cleric known for his inflammatory speeches against women’s rights, has once again stirred public outrage with his latest tirade against girls’ education.
Chishti, who is known for his controversial recitations or Kalams that often attack women’s roles in society, has released a new piece titled ‘Apni Dhi Schoolo Hata Le | Othy Dance Kardi Payi Ae’ [Take your daughter out of school, she is dancing there].
In this recitation, he aggressively called on parents to withdraw their daughters from school, claiming they go there to dance instead of learning.
In his video, Chishti used offensive language to describe girls and suggested they should be kept at home rather than being allowed to study.
His statements have amplified concerns about the influence of such figures in a country where societal pressures already prevent more than half of the girls from attending school.
The spread of this video on social media has ignited a wave of criticism, with many calling for Chishti’s arrest due to his harmful stance on girls’ education.
His rhetoric has led to him being labeled a “soft-Taliban” for his persistent targeting of women in his public recitations.
Community members, educators, and activists have vehemently condemned Chishti’s remarks.
They argue that his messages perpetuate damaging gender stereotypes and contribute to the systemic marginalization of girls in a society where educational opportunities for them are already severely limited.
