Barrister Gohar Khan, a prominent leader of PTI, stated on Thursday that Omer Ayub is selected by former prime minister Imran Khan as the prime ministerial candidate, while Mian Aslam Iqbal is picked as the chief minister of Punjab.
The event occurred during a series of talks between Barrister Gohar and other PTI leaders and the party’s imprisoned leader at Adiala Jail to discuss the state of politics at the moment.
Like other political parties, the PTI is assessing its options as post-election deal-making gets underway. The Imran-led party said earlier this week that it will form an alliance with the Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen (MWM) in the Centre and Punjab. The party’s independent candidates secured the majority of the vote in the polls.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the party had promised to establish a coalition government with the Jamaat-i-Islami. Liaquat Baloch of JI, however, subsequently said that his party has no interest in cooperating with the PTI in the province.
Conversely, PTI’s official account on ‘X’ said that Salaar Khan Kakar’s candidature as the chief minister of Balochistan is being discussed, and Mian Aslam Iqbal has been nominated for the position of Punjab chief minister. Aqibullah Khan, the brother of PTI politician Asad Qaiser, was chosen to be the KP Assembly’s speaker, according to Barrister Gohar.
In a media talk outside Adiala Jail, Barrister Gohar said that the PTI will not share power with the PML-N, PPP, or MQM-P. He stated, “Imran Khan has made it very evident that the PTI’s politics are for the people, not for power-sharing.”
