The highest-paid athlete in the world and the player with the most goals scored in the UEFA Champions League, Cristiano Ronaldo, has shared what motivates him to continue his remarkable football career.
Only nine goals separate the 39-year-old Portuguese star from being the greatest player in football history, therefore he is fired up to reach the 900 goal mark.
Ronaldo has scored 891 goals in total. With 128 strikes to his credit, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is ranked higher than Pele, Lionel Messi, and many other players as the greatest international football player.
“I feel proud to have this age and still compete at the highest level,” the Al Nassr forward stated in an interview with the Whoop podcast. It’s fantastic and encourages me to keep going. My level is high if you look at the last 20 years of my career.”
“My biggest motivation is to carry on. It’s not easy to be at this level. To still push, to still motivate… to compete with the young lions that are coming… they want to show me that they are stronger and faster.”
