Pakistan is facing the threat of Cyclone amid Monsoon season, the reports said on Thursday.
A deep depression currently over the Rann of Kutch and surrounding areas is likely to develop into a cyclonic storm after moving into the northeastern Arabian Sea.
According to Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz, this system is expected to maintain its intensity and may approach the northeastern Arabian Sea and the adjacent coastal areas of Sindh late at night or by tomorrow morning.
Due to favorable weather conditions in this area, it could briefly turn into a cyclonic storm, which will be named “Asna.”
Chief Meteorologist explained that the name of the storm, Asna, was proposed by Pakistan and means “elevated” or “lofty.”
He added that it is very unusual for a cyclonic storm to form during the monsoon season.
He further mentioned that the system is likely to cause high tides in the sea, with winds reaching speeds of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
