Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur commented on the recent battles between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members and police in Rawalpindi, stating that his party will reply to every bullet, teargas shell, and weapon strike against its followers.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the passionate PTI leader said that shots were fired on three of their employees, and the condition of one of them could not be established.
After leaving for Peshawar, KP Chief Minister Gandapur made this statement after the PTI demonstration in Rawalpindi was “called off” due to violent altercations between demonstrators and riot police close to Liaquat Bagh.
Due to traffic closures caused by the government placing containers at Burhan Interchange in an effort to scuttle PTI’s protest, the convoy led by Gandapur was trapped there for many hours.
Speaking to the participants, the KP chief executive chastised the government for denying PTI its “constitutional right” and ordered them to return to Peshawar.
He lamented the use of tear gas and rubber bullets by the police on the demonstrators and vowed to return with “all resources.”
However, Gandapur said that he saved a number of police officers who had been detained by party followers.
“We have guns, too, and they [police] have set an example of firing bullets.” the man said.
He praised the people of Rawalpindi Division and KP for their support of the previous ruling party in the interim.
