Waqar Younis has hit back at Hafeez for criticizing the Pakistan’s Cricket Stars on 90’s.
He shared a post on social media and defended the 90’s era boys without mentioning Muhammad Hafeez
Recently during a show on PTV Muhammad Hafeez criticized the 90’s era cricketing stars for failing to leave a legacy.
While giving his analysis on Pakistan’s early ouster from the International Cricket Council Champions Trophy tournament Hafeez highlighted that despite having legends like Waseem Akram, Waqar Younis, and Shoaib Akhtar, the PCT failed to win an ICC title other than 1992 world Cup.
“I am a huge fan of those who played in the 1990s, but when it comes to legacy, they left nothing for Pakistan. They didn’t win an ICC event – they lost the (World Cups of) 1996, 1999, and 2003. We reached one final (in 1999) and lost that badly,” Hafeez said
Muhammad Hafeez had played 55 Test,218 Odis, and 119 T20Is for Pakistan,
His comments ignited a debate with some people skeptical about PCT’s ability to consistently perform on world stage.
However, Waqar Younis took to X and posted a picture alongside Cricketing legend Waseem Akram.
The post showed their combined bowling records and in caption it was written in bold words”90’s KA LONDA”, highlighting that their performances spoke for themselves.
Pakistan recently showed poor performance in Champions Trophy tournament on home soil.
They became first ever host team to ousted first from any ICC event.
