A video circulating on social media has stirred controversy after showing an altercation between three teenage girls and a young salesman at a petrol station in Garden Town, Lahore.
The CCTV footage depicts a heated exchange escalating into physical confrontation as the girls, reportedly from affluent backgrounds, accuse the salesman of harassment. Despite attempts by an elderly bystander to intervene, the girls are seen assaulting the young man.
Promptly responding to a complaint filed by the girls’ influential father, Lahore Police registered an FIR against the salesman, leading to his arrest. The incident sparked widespread criticism online.
Following public outcry and scrutiny of the video evidence, Lahore Police clarified via Twitter that the charges against the salesman were dropped. However, they assured that any further legal actions would be thoroughly reviewed.
The incident has drawn reactions from Pakistani celebrities, with figures like Ahsan Khan expressing concern, while others such as Haroon Shahid and Sanam Jung condemned the violence captured in the footage.
Social media discussions vary, with calls for better customer service training for salesmen and criticism of perceived privilege misuse by the girls. Support for the salesman has also been voiced online, highlighting broader concerns about allegations of harassment in public settings.
