Following a Vexa and Neutroline reaction incident at Mayo Hospital, the Directorate of Medication Control has issued an immediate ban on the usage of injections from a private business throughout Punjab.
The official notice stated that because of the possible health concerns, pharmacists throughout the province have been directed to stop selling and administering the impacted injectables.
According to the advisory, as a precaution, the injection “Vexa” and solution “Neutroline” must be stopped right away.
Additionally, until further notice, the use of the particular batch of the injection that is suspected of being dangerous has been forbidden.
The Directorate of Drug Control acknowledged that the decision was made with patient safety in mind and that the prohibition will stay in effect until laboratory test results verify the medications’ safety.
Earlier, two patients died at Mayo Hospital after a suspected response to an injection, bringing the total number of deaths to two.
Previously, a lady undergoing treatment at the facility died, and 15 others experienced bad responses to an injection provided in the Chest Ward.
Three of the impacted individuals had been placed on ventilators. A hospital official stated that this was one of the patients on a ventilator.
He stated that the remaining patients who had received the jab were no longer in risk.
According to hospital sources, no lab testing was done before patients received the injection.
In reaction to the occurrence, the hospital management discontinued the use of the injection and established an inquiry committee to look into the problem.
A notification has been published appointing Professor Dr. Israr-ul-Haq as the head of the inquiry committee.
The group also includes the hospital’s head pharmacist, deputy nursing officer, and administrative manager.
