Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump congratulated his family, especially wife Melania, during his address after winning the 2024 US presidential election.
The former US president thanked Melania for her support throughout his tough presidential campaign, calling her the “first lady” in his speech.
Trump, 78, also cited Melania’s book as the “number one best seller in the nation” in his compliments.
“She’s done a great job,” he remarked, adding that she “works tirelessly to help people”
And as they stepped on stage with him, he thanked his “amazing kids”, naming each one together.
Trump made these comments as he declared victory in the 2024 presidential election, completing a remarkable political comeback four years after leaving the White House, after Fox News predicted that he had defeated Democrat Kamala Harris.
Donald Trump after becoming 47th US President declared, “America has given us a historic and powerful mandate,” in front of a boisterous throng at the Palm Beach County Convention Center early on Wednesday. He was accompanied by Trump’s family, Republican leaders, and his vice presidential running partner, Senator JD Vance.
According to Edison Research, Trump seemed to be on the verge of victory after seizing the battleground states of Georgia, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania and maintaining leads in the other four. Other news sites had not yet declared the election for him.
At her alma mater, Howard University, Harris did not address her fans. After midnight, Cedric Richmond, her campaign co-chair, spoke briefly to the throng and said that Harris will make a public appearance on Wednesday.
From rural areas to metropolitan hubs, the former president was demonstrating strength in large portions of the nation, improving on his 2020 performance everywhere.
