A United States court has halted the billionaire Elon Musk Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) authority to interfere the administration working on account of security concerns.
According to international media reports, the U.S. court direction read that Elon Musk’s DOGE access to the US Treasury payment systems is minimized for the time being.
According to the court decision Musk interference to government affairs is halted due to concerns over data security and potential misuse of sensitive information.
This decision was made after a coalition of Democratic attorneys general from 19 states filed a lawsuit, arguing that Musk’s team lacked the authority to access systems handling trillions of dollars in government payments.
The lawsuit alleged that Musk’s involvement posed a cybersecurity threat and risked disrupting critical federal funding for healthcare, education, and climate initiatives. Furthermore, the states claimed that former President Donald Trump’s administration could exploit the information for political purposes.
Musk reacted strongly to the ruling, calling it “absolutely insane” on his social media platform X. He defended DOGE’s role, stating that his team had proposed reforms to increase transparency in government payments.
However, critics argue that Musk is overstepping his role by attempting to dismantle key federal agencies and cut government jobs.
They also cited Musk decision to stop USAid, which would possibly harm U.S. efficiency to curb various issues worldwide.
