U.S. President Donald Trump announced his plan to meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to negotiate over the ways to end war.
Speaking to media person Trump stated that he will ‘soon’ see Putin, as he believe the president is interested to put an end to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
However, President has not declared a time line to visit Putin, but he assured that it will take place in near future.
When Trump asked about the Putin intensions to take over Ukraine, he responded: “That was my question to him.”
Trump noted that if the Russian president have such intentions to take over Ukraine it would be a an issue for himself. “I believe that Putin is more interested in resolving the issue between the countries for long lasting peace in the region”.
These remarks from Trump came just hours after Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed his expectations regarding upcoming discussions in Saudi capital Riyadh. He stated that the meeting is aimed at resolving the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
However it remained unclear if Ukrainian representatives will be involved in these discussions or not.
Rubio revealed the complexities in these talks stating, “In geopolitics, no one should fully trust anyone.”
He added that the coming days and weeks would unboxed whether Putin wanted to end the ongoing war or not.
