United States president-elect Donald Trump has warned to address the situation firmly if Hamas fails to free Israeli hostages before he takes office on January 20, 2025.
Trump posted on his Truth Social account and criticized the US current administration saying ” all talk, and no action’ to bring a ceasefire in Gaza in more than a year of war.
“If the hostages are not released by January 20, when I assume office, there will be ALL HELL TO PAY in the Middle East and for those in charge who perpetrated these atrocities against Humanity,” Trump declared, urging Hamas to immediately free the Israeli captives.
“Those responsible will be hit harder than anybody has been hit in the long and storied History of the United States of America. RELEASE THE HOSTAGES NOW!” he wrote.
This declaration from president-elect is welcomed by the Israeli officials. Israeli President Isaac Herzog expressed his gratitude for this advocacy of Trump.
Isaac took to X and appreciated Trump’s announcement. He wrote, “We all pray for the moment when our loved ones return home”.
On the other hand Hamas has proposed exchanging hostages for a cessation of Israeli military operations in Gaza. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remains firm on continuing the conflict until Hamas is decisively defeated.
