A tragic incident occurred in Narowal on Thursday when a young man lost his life in a collision allegedly involving a police vehicle from Maryam Nawaz’s security convoy.
Reports indicated that 23-year-old Abu Bakar was riding a motorcycle near Chandowal when he was allegedly struck by a protocol vehicle associated with Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz.
Legal action has been initiated, with an FIR filed at the Saddar police station in Narowal by a cousin of the deceased. The FIR states that Abu Bakar was hit by an Elite Force vehicle as the convoy traveled towards Kartarpur. The collision, as per the FIR, was a result of overtaking.
Rizwan, the cousin of the deceased, recounted that Abu Bakar was accompanied by a friend on the motorcycle, who fortunately escaped unharmed in the crash.
This tragic incident bears similarities to a 2017 event when speeding vehicles within Nawaz Sharif’s ‘homecoming’ motorcade fatally struck a nine-year-old child in Lalamusa.
The child was among a crowd of supporters welcoming Nawaz Sharif as his motorcade passed through Lalamusa. Witnesses reported that the child wandered onto the road and was initially hit by a car belonging to the Elite Force, followed by multiple vehicles that did not stop to assist the injured child.
Despite the presence of a mobile health unit accompanying the motorcade, bystanders noted that none of the vehicles stopped to assess the child’s condition as he succumbed to his injuries.
