Traders faced difficulty as Torkham border remained shut for fourth consecutive day on Tuesday.
The closure left travelers stranded at both sides and caused great loss to traders amounting millions.
The Torkham gate pass has faced repeated closures in recent years because of border skirmishes and armed conflicts.
According to the Torkham Customs Clearing Agents Association president Mujeeb khan Shinwari several rounds of talks between border officials of Pakistan and Afghanistan took place.
He stated that they also met customs Collector Mateen Alam a key member of team that negotiated with Afghan border authorities.
Referring to them, Mujeeb Shinwari reiterated that they are hopeful that pass way will reopen for trade.
Reportedly the authorities have reached an understanding with the Afghan side on the issues.
A trader there highlighted the issues related to closure. He said that thousands of laborers and pedestrians also faced the problems due to the closure.
Many daily wagers had the source of earning from there, he added.
The border faced a closure after Pakistan aimed to install a signboard at Pakistan Gate while the other side retaliated by starting construction for a security post.
This escalated when attempts to build a check post in the disputed area were made by Afghans.
Incident prompted Pakistani side to stop the work, this heightened the situation between the security forces of both the countries, causing the suspension of trade activities.
