Lucy Connolly, the wife of a Tory councillor, on Monday admitted to inciting racial hatred in connection with the unrest.
The 41-year-old confessed in court to posting a message on social media in which she called for setting fire to a hotel housing asylum seekers. Connolly now faces the possibility of a prison sentence, with the court set to deliver its verdict on October 17.
The riots were triggered by a tragic incident on July 30, when three young girls were fatally stabbed during a Taylor Swift-themed yoga and dance workshop in Southport.
The violent attack sparked widespread unrest across Southport and other cities in the UK, with far-right extremists targeting the Muslim community in the aftermath.
In the wake of the riots, the authorities detained more than 88,000 individuals, with 998 people sentenced to prison in the past month alone.
