The Meteorological Department of Pakistan reported today’s weather update. Rain hit different cities in Punjab and caused a fire while dozens of feeders and caused power outrage in the federal capital Islamabad.
Heavy rainfall drenched several cities across Punjab and Azad Kashmir, with the highest recorded in Chaklala at 124mm, followed by Bokra at 114mm. The downpour affected cities including Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Jhelum, Gujarat, and Hafizabad.
In Azad Kashmir, rain accompanied by thunder and lightning struck Zilla Bagh, Bhimbar, Samahni, and nearby areas. Nakyal city and the surrounding regions experienced continuous rainfall throughout the night.
The weather conditions have also impacted Malakand and its neighboring areas, further intensifying the cold weather.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast more rain in various parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Lahore, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Mansehra, and Nowshera. There are also chances of rain with strong winds and thunderstorms in Sindh’s Tharparkar and adjacent areas.
Due to the severe weather, the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) reported that over 40 feeders tripped in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, resulting in widespread power outages. Efforts are underway to restore electricity in the affected areas.
