Today weather update : Punjab government shuts business activities, flight schedules due to smog crisis in 4 major districts, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Multan after 8pm.
The Punjab government officially released a notification for the closure of commerical market and outdoor activites from November 11.
According to the notification, all sports, exhibitions, and events will be prohibited, along with dining in restaurants, though religious gatherings will be exempt.
Apart from this, the medical stores, petrol pumps and grocery stores will continue their operations. This order is applicable from November 11 to November 17.
The sources reveals, due to smog, the visibility on the Lahore Airport runway has been recorded at 350 meters.
Currently, 14 domestic and foreign flights delayed and one flight was cancelled.
According to the reports, PIA flight from Dammam to Lahore was landed in Islamabad, flight PA 401 from Lahore to Karachi was cancelled.
Flight PK 739 from Lahore to Jeddah was delayed by five hours, while flight UL 154 from Lahore to Colombo faced a six-hour delay.
Additionally, the Lahore to Jeddah flight was delayed by three hours, and the Jeddah to Lahore flight was delayed by three hours and 45 minutes.
In Rahim Yar Khan, a person died and 6 people were injured in a traffic accidents. These incidents occured at different places due to smog.
A bus collided with car and motorcycle on Shahbazpur road due to smog intensity. Resulted in the death of one in the accident.
On the other hand, Lahore continues to rank first among the most polluted cities. The smog situation in Punjab is getting worse. Early in the morning, the air quality index reached 582 AQI.
Meanwhile, fog is widespread across several cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the Peshawar Motorway has been closed to traffic.
The situation in Multan and Peshawar has also deteriorated due to smog and fog, leading to the closure of motorways in several areas. Authorities have advised citizens to exercise caution.
The heavy fog and smog has prevailed in Peshawar city, its ranked fifth in air quality index.
The Peshawar Motorway has been closed to traffic due to dense fog. The Meteorological Department has predicted that smog and fog will continue to affect Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, Bannu, and DI Khan in the morning.
Additionally today weather update, rain with strong winds is expected in several regions, including Peshawar, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Butgram, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swabi, Malakand, Bajaur, Mardan, Mohmand, Khyber, Kurram, and Kohat, while snowfall is anticipated in the higher mountain areas.
