Today weather update : The depression in the Arabian Sea has intensified and is located 1,020 kilometers southwest of Karachi.
According to recent reports, the depression is moving westward and is currently positioned 1,010 kilometers from Ormara, 1,030 kilometers from Gwadar, and 770 kilometers southeast of Oman.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz stated that clouds are forming in the Arabian Sea under its influence, leading to continued drizzle in the city.
Sardar Sarfraz forecasted that the drizzle may persist intermittently until the afternoon or evening.
He also noted that the temperature is expected to rise to 35°C today due to the overcast conditions.
On October 12, the Meteorological Department confirmed that the low-pressure system in the southeastern Arabian Sea had intensified.
However, they assured that there is currently no immediate threat to any coastal areas of Pakistan.
Earlier, on October 8, the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) issued a warning regarding the formation of a low-pressure system in the Arabian Sea, indicating the potential for it to develop into a storm.
The NEOC expressed concern that this system could impact the coastline of Pakistan during the third week of October.
As of now, the NEOC reported that the low-pressure area is located near the Lakshadweep Valley and is likely to move northwestward.
The initial forecast suggested that depending on the intensity and trajectory of this low-pressure system, it may affect Pakistan’s coastline later this month.
Whereas, the weather report shows mostly sunny in other parts of the country. Temperatures are expected to be warm ranging from 27°C in Quetta to 39°C in Bahawalpur.
