Tehreek e Namoos Pakistan has sent intimidating letters to the Supreme Court, with similar messages reaching judges of the Islamabad High Court and Lahore High Court.
These letters contain suspicious substances, suspected to be anthrax, alongside threatening messages. The party is lesser known group and its name first time appeared last year in September when a suspicious bag having weapons and threat letter to judges was landed in the Supreme Court. Islamabad police said the letters were sent by the Tehreek-e-Namoos and they were investigating into the it.
The correspondence by the TNP lambasts the Supreme Court for failing to uphold justice, accusing it of contributing to the country’s chaos, poverty, corruption, and disorder instead of being a beacon of rectitude.
The group, known for its militant tendencies, denounces judges, generals, and politicians as afflictions to the nation, declaring its opposition to them.
This militant organisation gained attention last year when explosives and maps related to sensitive installations were discovered in the Margalla hills, linked to their activities.
Reports say judges of the Islamabad High Court has also received threatening mails. The mails contain criticism on Pakistan justice system with threats and was written in English language. The mails also mentioned bacillus anthracis. The police had already registered an FIR regarding the matter.
Bacillus anthracis, according to reports, is a bacteria that causes anthrax. Anthrax, doctors say, is a serious type of infection and could be fatal in case the patients are not given immediate treatment.
Police said the some Supreme Court judges including the Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, and five judges of the Lahore High Court received similar threat letters with the suspected material.
The matter of sending toxic mails to the top judges of Pakistan have appeared days after the letter of the IHC judges to the Supreme Judicial Council regarding the pressure upon them by the ISI, Pakistan top spy agency.
