The Utility Stores Corporation (USC) reduced the sugar prices on Thursday across the country,
The price of sugar has been reduced by 13 rupees per kilogram by the Utility Stores Corporation, making it 140 rupees per kilogram with immediate effect.
The Utility Stores used to sell sugar for 153 rupees per kilogram.
Following the corporation’s request, the proprietors of the sugar mills agreed to drop the price of sugar by 17 rupees per kilogram.
Upon obtaining this mill refund, the Utility Stores Corporation transferred the savings to customers.
The price per kilogram of the 12,000 metric tons of sugar that the Utility Stores had bought was 137 rupees.
The organization ultimately paid about 152 rupees per kilogram for the sugar, though, after deducting expenses.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the chief minister of Punjab, had previously predicted that the province’s production of rice and wheat would rise significantly.
She pointed to a possible 30% increase in wheat production as well as an increase in rice exports, which are predicted to hit $5 billion this year.
In order to increase agricultural production, the government is also concentrating on growing crops like tomatoes and onions during the off-season and giving farmers subsidized seeds, equipment, and advice.
