Sudan reports a hospital, one of the functioning hospitals, in El-Fasher, in its Darfur hit by a deadly drone strike.
It was was completely leveled. Several patients lost their lives in the attack.
However, at least 30 reportedly died in the emergency room.
Sudanese officials highlighted the horrific cost of the incident and its impact on civilians who were exposed.
Regional Governor Mini Minawi recorded the aftermath of the strike on social media with horrific pictures.
Over 70 individuals, including children and women, died, as stated in his tweet.
Minawi highlighted the gravity of the tragedy by referring to the attack as an “extermination.”
The incident has added to the rising number of victims in the continued fight in Sudan.
Since April 2023, Sudan’s military and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have been fighting a bloody war.
Darfur has been devastated by this long conflict, with the RSF holding a large portion of the western region.
Nevertheless, RSF troops still surround North Darfur’s capital, el-Fasher.
Army-backed militias have managed to push back RSF forces and maintain control of the city despite numerous attacks.
The attack happened at the Saudi Hospital in el-Fasher, which had been attacked earlier.
Medical sources reported that an attack similar to this one occurred weeks ago and was attributed to an RSF drone.
Suspicion has already pointed to the RSF, even if it is not clear who carried out the attack on Friday.
The Sudan Crisis lingers on
Medical resources have been heavily stretched due to the conflict, making it hard for civilians to receive the required care.
It has brought into limelight this humanitarian issue of Darfur where more civilians than fighters are on the receiving end of the attacks.
The continued violence is calling up concern among world citizens at the growing bad situation of the region.
Sudan has never ever needed peace and stability more urgently.
