Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s latest film, Stree 2, has shattered box office records by becoming the first movie to gross ₹600 crore solely within India.
Historically, Aamir Khan’s Ghajini was the first to break the ₹100 crore barrier, followed by 3 Idiots, which made waves in 2009 by crossing ₹200 crore. Now, Stree 2 has achieved a new milestone by being the first to exceed ₹600 crore.
The success was further boosted by Cinema Day, where ticket prices were slashed to ₹99, drawing massive crowds. The film had a remarkable performance in its fifth week, earning ₹24.65 crore on Friday alone.
On Saturday, Stree 2 brought in ₹3.65 crore, and Sunday’s earnings reached ₹4.85 crore. These figures pushed Stree 2 past Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster Jawan, which held the previous record at ₹582 crore for its Hindi version.
The movie has also surpassed other major hits like Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal (₹502.98 crore), Pathaan (₹524.53 crore Hindi version), and Gadar 2 (₹525.7 crore). The engaging plot of Stree 2 has resonated with audiences, driving its massive success.
