Stranger Things fans may have to wait a little longer for Stranger Things Season 5, as the creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, reacted to the latest release date leak.
The Duffer Brothers spoke to Variety and spoke to the gossip surrounding the show’s final season, which the brothers said does not premiere in 2024 as the rumors might have suggested; instead, due to the vast visual effects requirements, post-production will spill into 2025.
Major portions of the post-production activities, especially editing of visual effects, are in store for most of 2025.
Matt Duffer said, “Right now, we’re focused on cutting all the visual effects sequences so they can be finalized in time for release.” However, when asked about an exact date, he admitted, “A lot is still undecided in terms of specific dates.”
We’re working as fast as possible, but now we have another hill to climb before we’re finished,” Ross Duffer said.
Speculations about the release date started to circulate when a leaked Netflix screenshot hinted that Stranger Things Season 5 will drop on November 27, 2025.
Though the rumor went viral within a few minutes, neither Netflix nor the creators have confirmed any official date.
