Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir has termed the social media propaganda a toll to create uncertainty in the country.
He made these remarks during an address to the Pakistan National Youth Conference in Islamabad.
“Negative propaganda is spreading hopelessness in the society,” Radio Pakistan quoted him as saying.
The COAS asked the youth to ensure fact-checking and do proper research before falling into the trap of social media negative propaganda and believing in the false narrative. He believed a society would descend into chaos if the negativity continued.
General Munir vowed that the Pakistan Army was fully prepared to defend democracy and would never compromise on the sovereignty of the country.
Allah Almighty, he said, bestowed Pakistan with enormous resources and its future is bright. He said the country was established in the name of Islam and the religion guarantees its protection and safety. The youth, he added, must felt proud of the great cultural diversity of the country and stayed away from Westernization.
He said the youth are the hope of the country and could transform it as per the vision of Allama Iqbal and Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He said the armed forces always needed the support of the nation to fight against the meanness of terrorism.
