Shehla Raza, a leader of Pakistan Peoples Party, made headlines on Tuesday by securing a historic win as the first female president of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF).
Her election came during an extraordinary session of the PHF Congress, convened by Secretary General Haider Hussain. Fifty-four out of 64 members, including representatives from National Bank and Pakistan Customs, were present.

Shehla Raza’s unanimous victory as president of the embattled hockey federation signifies a significant breakthrough. Additionally, Shuja Iqbal Pasha was chosen as secretary of finance.
A prominent PPP member, Shehla Raza has previously held the position of vice president within the PHF. The PHF Congress met in Karachi, where MNA Shehla Raza was elected President.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched several inquiries into the PHF regarding alleged financial irregularities.
Previously, the then-caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar approved the replacement of Khalid Sajjad Khokhar as the president of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF).
The nomination of a new president for the PHF received the Prime Minister’s approval. PM Kakar directed the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) to compile a list of suitable candidates for the pivotal role within the PHF.
The premier instructed the IPC to provide a comprehensive list of potential candidates within a week. Khalid Sajjad Khokhar had been leading the PHF since 2015.
Vice president of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) and MNA Shehla Raza has also taken notice of delayed salary payments to 23 PHF employees for six months. Shehla, who also chairs the PHF women’s wing, instructed relevant authorities to expedite the release of salaries.
