LAHORE- Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) speeded up efforts to contact with the political parties, especially the independents to form the next unity government, the sources close to the development said on Saturday.
The sources said that Shehbaz Sharif would contact PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, Chairman Bilawal, Maulana Fazlur Rehman and MQM-P leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui again.
“Contact with the political parties and reach out to the independents,” the sources said, citing Nawaz Sharif’s instruction to Shehbaz during a meeting at Jati Umrah.
The meeting chaired by Nawaz Sharif deliberated on the developing political situation in the country. Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, Ishaq Dar, Ayaz Sadiq, Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Rana Sanaullah and others were also present there.
According to the sources, Shehbaz Sharif briefed Nawaz Sharif on recent engagements with various political entities, including Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Jamiat Ulema Isam-Fazl (JUI-F), and discussions with MQM-P leadership. He provided Nawaz Sharif with comprehensive details of these interactions.
Nawaz Sharif stressed the importance of being informed about situations where his presence is necessary.
The PML-N has also formed a committee to engage with successful independent candidates from the general elections, with Senator Ishaq Dar appointed as its leader. Rana Sanaullah, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and Saad Rafique are also part of this committee.
During the meeting, there was deliberation regarding the potential appointment of Shehbaz Sharif as the head of Punjab province in the event of PML-N forming the central government. Furthermore, discussions included the roles of Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz and Hamza Shahbaz at the central level. The senior leadership advised Nawaz Sharif that under Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, Punjab could experience significant progress if given the opportunity.
