A new political party called ‘Awam Pakistan Party’ has officially been launched by former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail, and other notable politicians.
Prominent political heavyweights like Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Miftah Ismail, former Governor Sardar Mehtab Abbasi, former Federal Health Minister Dr. Zafar Mirza, former Punjab Provincial Minister Zaeem Qadri, and others attended the inaugural ceremony in Islamabad.
“Badlenge Nizam” (We Will Reform the System) is the new party’s slogan, and it has a green and blue flag with the party’s name inscribed in white.
The former prime minister forewarned the government last month that if the recently agreed budget is implemented, it will discourage foreign direct investment and drive young and salaried individuals from Pakistan, thereby driving the economy to the verge of collapse.
According to party founder Miftah Ismail, the recently formed party wants to reduce yearly government spending while increasing tax breaks for middle-class and salaried people in order to promote economic development, as reported by Arab News.
One of the party’s main objectives, according to Ismail, is to elevate the impoverished. He emphasized the significance of active citizen participation in politics, government, and the economy.
Limiting government engagement, promoting the private sector, and privatizing public organizations are all part of the party’s economic reform platform.
He criticized the present coalition administration headed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, pointing out that chances for urgently needed economic changes had been lost in previous budgets.
