As the squad gets ready for the forthcoming T20 World Cup in England, former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has voiced his worries over wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan’s fitness.
The West Indies have different conditions than England, according to Afridi, therefore an inexperienced wicketkeeper may have a lot of difficulties. The wickets are often less bouncy and the ball stays low.
“What matters most is fitness. When batting, bowling, or fielding on the ground, your body language makes it obvious if you are fit. Your fitness cannot be compromised,” Afridi said.
Azam’ Khan’s performance in the game’s shortest format, where he only scored 88 runs from 11 innings with a strike rate of 146 and an average of 11.
In spite of this, the 25-year-old showed promise in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), helping Islamabad United win the league this year by scoring 226 runs with a remarkable strike rate of 171.21.
