Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi has voiced his disapproval of Shaheen Afridi’s removal as captain after just one series, calling it an unjust decision.
Speaking in Karachi, he also expressed reservations about the initial decision to appoint Shaheen as captain, asserting that Mohammad Rizwan was a more suitable choice to lead Pakistan’s white-ball team following Babar Azam.
Afridi highlighted Pakistan’s abundance of cricketing talent but lamented its frequent mismanagement.
He praised young opener Saim Ayub, expressing confidence in his potential to excel across all formats, and commended all-rounder Aamer Jamal, comparing his abilities to those of former great Abdul Razzaq.
Discussing the ongoing Champions Trophy controversy, Afridi supported the Pakistan Cricket Board’s tough stance, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the country’s interests.
He urged the International Cricket Council to intervene and resolve the deadlock surrounding the tournament.
