The Pakistani cricket player Shaheen Afridi, who was unexpectedly removed from his position as captain of the T20I squad, sent a mysterious statement on his official Instagram account on Friday.
As a result of Pakistan’s early elimination from the 2023 ODI World Cup, and Zaka Ashraf’s disliking Babar Azam decided to resign as captain of all three forms, and Afridi was named the T20I captain.
This year’s disastrous 4-1 series loss to New Zealand at home marked the beginning of the left-arm fast bowler’s captaincy stint. Yet after just one series, Babar Azam was back in charge of Pakistan’s white-ball team on March 31, ending his time as captain.
Afridi reportedly took issue with the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) lack of communication over his dismissal as captain. The 23-year-old was also offended by a statement that was made after he was demoted as the T20I captain and featured things that he had neither approved nor stated. Afridi was informed by the PCB that this error was an internal mistake.
In a cryptic Instagram story, Afridi hinted that if his patience was put to the test any more, he might be willing to reveal a side of himself that people might not have expected.
Shaheen’s message stated: “Never ever ever put me in a position where I have to show you how cruel and ruthless I can be. Don’t test my patience. Because I might be the kindest and sweetest person you’ve ever met, but once I reach my limit, you’ll see me do the things that no one thought I was capable of doing.”
