A harsh cold wave has gripped Pakistan, plunging the country into freezing temperatures and transforming its northern regions into snowy landscapes.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), this cold wave spell is likely to persist until December 15, with many areas experiencing chilly and arid weather today.
Frozen lakes and waterfalls in Ghizar, along with snow-blanketed tourist hotspots like Malam Jabba, Kalam, Kaghan, and Shogran, are attracting attention.
In Karachi, brisk winds have intensified the cold, dropping early morning temperatures to 12°C, with predictions of further declines into single digits.
Recent reports highlight extreme temperatures in several areas, including minus 13°C in Leh, minus 7°C in Skardu and Gupis, minus 6°C in Kalam and Qalat, and minus 4°C in Dir and Malam Jabba.
Light rain and snowfall are expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and surrounding hilly regions, while parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, southern Punjab, and upper Sindh may experience light fog during the morning.
Meteorologists also foresee the formation of a rain system in early January, though precipitation levels are predicted to remain below average.
