The federal capital police found the senior National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officer dead in his room in Islamabad.
The body of the officer named Waqas Ahmad was recovered from a guest house in G-6/4 sector within the jurisdiction of Aabpara Police Station.
The police have taken the body of deceased in their custody and sent it to Polyclinic Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Police disclosed that the official was working at Nab Lahore Directorate. He had come to Islamabad due to some work related to office.
According to them he was staying at guest house in G-6/4 sector since 16 February.
Police after receiving the information arrived at guest house, and tried to get into his room, but the door was locked from within.
The police took the duplicate key from guest house management and when opened the room they found Ahmad dead.
Police after early examination disclosed that Ahmed was apparently ill.
A cannula was attached to his hand, that is used for injecting medicine and drips. Moreover, some medicine identified as stomach medications were also found there.
Police said that this suggests that he might was suffering from a stomach-related illness. However, they said the actual cause of death will be determined only after the postmortem.
The deceased family was informed about the death, and they arrived in Islamabad.
Family members asked the investigative team of Aabpara Police Station to carry out the postmortem. The body is already transferred to police station for the postmortem.
For now, the family has not extended any written application for further legal action.
The police are also waiting for the postmortem report.
However, no signs of external injury were seen during the examination of body.
