Khaled Ahmed, a well-known journalist, passed away on Sunday at his home in Zaman Park due to cardiac attack at the age of 81.
He was born in Jalandhar in 1943 and has worked as a journalist for almost 40 years, although he began his career as a bureaucrat.
He worked as a journalist for The Nation, The Frontier Post, The Friday Times, The Pakistan Times, and The Daily Times. His most recent position was as a consultant editor for Newsweek Pakistan, situated in Lahore.
Khaled Ahmed earned a certificate in German from Punjab University and an MA (Honours) on the roll of honor after graduating from Government College Lahore during the 1965 war. In 1970, he graduated from Moscow State University with a degree in Russian (interpretation).
Journalist Najam Sethi recalled his friend, saying: “Khaled and I were friends from GC days in the 1960s.” We later collaborated closely at Aajkal, The Friday Times, and Daily Times.
He was among the nation’s most erudite men. Despite being a linguist, he was a source of immense information since he was soft-spoken, modest, modest, and well rooted in the local culture. The fact that the state failed to recognize him is the worst aspect.
