At least12 Khawarij [militants] were killed while six soldiers embraced martyrdom in two separate incidents on September 19 and 20 in North and South Waziristan, and the martyrdom of six soldiers, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
The first incident took place on September 19 in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan, where security forces intercepted a group of seven terrorists attempting to cross the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
Upon being surrounded, the militants engaged in a fierce gun battle with the forces.
All seven militants were killed, and a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from their possession, the ISPR reported.
The second clash occurred in the Ladha area of South Waziristan, where militants launched an attack on a security post.
The assault was successfully repelled, with five militants killed in the process.
However, six soldiers embraced martyrdom during the heavy exchange of gunfire while defending the post.
“Clearance operations are ongoing in the area to eliminate any remaining threats,” the ISPR said, emphasizing that Pakistan’s security forces remain steadfast in their mission to eradicate terrorism.
“The sacrifices of our brave soldiers only strengthen our resolve to rid the country of this menace,” it added.
