In preparation for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Islamabad, authorities have imposed Section 144 in Rawalpindi for eight days, from October 10 to October 17.
A spokesperson from the Interior Department announced the decision. The authorities aim to ensure security during the summit.
The notification states that authorities will prohibit all forms of political gatherings, sit-ins, meetings, demonstrations, and protests within the city.
The ban also covers double riding on motorcycles and aerial firing, with additional restrictions on flying pigeons, drones, and the use of laser lights under Section 144.
The district administration requested these measures to ensure security during the event, with law enforcement representatives exempt from the restrictions.
SCO Summit will take place on October 15 and 16 in Islamabad, attracting significant attention and participation from member countries.
