With the holy month of Ramadan 2024 just around the corner, the Punjab education department is expected to revise schools timings in the province.
Ramadan in 2024 is expected to commence in Pakistan on March 11 or 12, while a final decision will be announced by Ruet-e-Hilala Committee after moon sighting meeting.
Last year, the authorities revised the timings for Ramadan for all public and private schools to be opened at 7:30 A.M. till 12 P.M. from Monday to Thursday while the closing timings for schools 11:30 A.M. for Fridays.
The double-shift schools opened at 7:15 A.M. and 12:30 P.M. and closed at 12:15 P.M. and 4:30 P.M., respectively.
Last month, the Punjab education department issued new timings for public and private schools across the province.
New School Timings in Punjab
The official notification issued in January stated that the school timings will be implemented from February 1 till April 15.
The boys’ schools currently open at 8:30 A.M. and close at 2:30 P.M. while the timings for girls’ schools open at 8:15 A M. to 2:15 P.M. on weekdays, it said.
However, double-shift schools will run first shift from 8 A.M. to 12:15 P.M. The second shift will start at 12:30 P.M. and end at 5 P.M.
There will be relaxation in school uniform restriction, it has been reported.
