Pakistan’s Test vice-captain Saud Shakeel emphasized the need for spin-friendly pitches, similar to Multan, to be incorporated into domestic cricket to better prepare players for challenging conditions.
Speaking to the media in Multan, Shakeel highlighted the importance of strong first-innings performances in Test cricket.
“Posting a substantial total in the first innings, even around 350 runs, can set the tone for the rest of the match, especially on pitches that don’t favor batting,” he explained.
Shakeel reaffirmed his dedication to contributing to the team’s success. “My focus has always been on delivering performances that lead the team to victory,” he said, dismissing the notion that team changes impact overall success.
Addressing potential adjustments for the second Test against the West Indies, scheduled to begin on January 25, Shakeel stated that the playing XI would likely remain unchanged unless conditions shift.
“These spin-friendly pitches work to our advantage, and we are confident in our ability to secure a win here,” he added.
