Sarah Khan, a name synonymous with captivating performances and a loyal fanbase in Pakistan, has recently expressed her desire to explore the vibrant world of Bollywood.
In a candid interview with PTI, she not only confessed her admiration for Indian cinema but also revealed her dream co-star and shed light on the factors contributing to the cross-border appeal of Pakistani dramas.
Khan acknowledges the immense reach of Bollywood, stating, “Who is not a fan of Bollywood?” She recognizes the opportunity Bollywood presents for actors, particularly given the sizeable Indian segment of her audience. “For any actor,” she says, “it is a big deal to work in another space so it will be great if I get to work in Bollywood. I would love to.” Khan even harbours a long-held dream of collaborating with the iconic Salman Khan, a testament to Bollywood’s enduring influence.
Beyond personal aspirations, Khan delves into the reasons behind the popularity of Pakistani dramas in India. She highlights the universality of the stories, narratives that resonate with audiences across borders. “These are stories that more or less are happening in our homes and our neighbourhoods,” she explains. “So people from both countries can relate to it.” Furthermore, she emphasizes the natural acting style of Pakistani actors, creating a sense of connection with viewers on both sides of the border.
Khan also notes the fascinating evolution of Pakistani dramas. She observes a shift away from the traditional “hero-heroine centric plots,” a move towards more diverse and nuanced storytelling. Deeper exploration of characters and plots beyond the realm of conventional love stories is a welcome trend, she asserts.
Interestingly, acting wasn’t always on the cards for Khan. Her initial dream was to become a singer. A chance encounter with individuals from a local television network while recording a song, however, would change her destiny. Offered an opportunity to star in her debut drama, “Badi Appa,” Khan initially took it as a summer break activity.

However, the experience revealed the depth and responsibility inherent in acting, which sparked a newfound passion within her. While a brief break followed, Sarah soon realized there was nothing else she’d rather do. This revelation solidified her commitment to acting, paving the way for a successful career that continues to this day.
Sarah Khan‘s story is not just about her journey as an actress. It’s a testament to the growing cultural exchange between Pakistan and India. Her admiration for Bollywood and her desire to work in Indian cinema reflects a shared passion for storytelling that transcends borders.
On the acting front, Khan was recently seen in Deewar-e-Shab, Sabaat, Raqs e Bismil, Laapata Wabaal, Kitni Girhain Baaki Hain, Ustani Jee, and Hum Tum.
