Santorini, the beautiful island, suffering from constant earthquakes, very 20 to 30 minutes, have produced a deep anxiety.
Therefore both residents and visitors are now leaving the island. Hundreds are using boats and planes to run away, in search of safety elsewhere.
The Greek National Airline has addressed the crisis by augmenting air traffic.
They have doubled the number of flights between Athens and Santorini for two days.
Ferry companies also jump in, offering further services for evacuation.
More than 11,000 people have already evacuated the island because of the regular shaking. Over 600 earthquakes have been recorded on Santorini, amplifying anxiety.
Quakes up to 4.8 magnitude have been triggering decisions from local authorities.
The Greek government has closed schools on island communities as a preeminence.
Emergency personnel have been sent to the islands (Santorini among others), to deal with the emergency.
Sky Express Airlines has reported free flights for students and teachers.
These humanitarian flights will take place between Santorini and Athens and support people impacted by the crisis.
Over 555 aftershocks have been reported on the island since January 28th.
The recurrent earthquakes have made the population in distress and in need of help. Due to the current emergency, schools on Santorini have been suspended.
Emergency response teams have already arrived to offer relief and to deal with the crisis.
Sky Express sells free tickets to teachers and students for a certain period of time. The offer will be in effect from February 5 to February 9, 2025.
This activity is being current to help families and teachers get away from a risk of the earthquakes.
The situation is still critical with further aftershocks expected, leading to additional evacuations.
