Russia is set to organize BRICS Summit 2024 in Kazan, on Tuesday.
Russian President Vladimir Putin will host the meeting of high profile delegations from various countries.
In this summit delegations from 36 countries, including 22 heads of state, and members from six international organizations will participate.
Economist Jim O’Neill founded this organization in 2001 to highlight the economic growth of Brazil, Russia, India, and China. Later South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the UAE joined the group.
Putin stated that BRICS reflects global economic shifts. BRICS countries work together based on shared interests. The key priority of BRICS is to enhance regional connectivity among various countries to work on common grounds.
According to sources Russia will also encourage BRICS to develop an alternative international payment system to avoid Western sanctions.
As per summit schedule Putin will meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday.
On the following day Putin will held meetings with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan.
BRICS summit will end with a press conference on Thursday.
