Pakistani model and actress Roma Michael opened up about the criticism she faced for walking the ramp in a bikini.
In previous days Michael attended the Miss Grand International 2024 event. During the event, Roma Michael walked the ramp in a bikini, which quickly sparked a wave of criticism. Videos from the show circulated online, and social media users began trolling the model for her revealing outfit.
Michael addressed this criticism during a recent interview appearance. During the interview she clarified to her fans that wearing a bikini during the event was not her personal choice but rather a requirement.
Michael said that she asked the organizers to give her permission to carry a scarf but her request was denied. “Wearing a bikini was part of the show’s format, and the president of Miss Grand International was very strict about it. Event president informed the participants that burqas or headscarves were not allowed, and everyone had to wear the swimsuits provided by the organizers”, Roma explained.
Roma added that she personally felt bad for participating in the event. She realized this mistake after she got intense criticism from Pakistani fans.
It is worth noting that the controversy surrounding Michael’s videos escalated when Indian fans tagged her in a post. This led to extensive media coverage in India. Eventually, the video gained attention from Pakistani users and garnered a wave of criticism for the model.
