In Johannesburg, Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan and pacer Shaheen Afridi presented a cheque to Cricket South Africa (CSA).
The donation is in support of the fight against breast cancer, by Shahid Afridi Foundation. It is in line with the Pink Day initiative’s goal of raising awareness and funding breast cancer research.
The Shahid Afridi Foundation has long been dedicated to philanthropy. Its prime focus is on healthcare and education projects like building hospitals and community development.
However, the gesture made on the day of this match between Rizwan and Afridi speaks of the organization of the foundation. It highlights the efforts of the organization for major causes of social concern.
Moreover, on-field, Pakistan produced stellar displays with Saim Ayub spearheading the effort. Amassing a century, including 101 runs, was Ayub in his third century in ODIs and his second of the series.
Major contributions were also made by captain Muhammad Rizwan (53), and Babar Azam (52). These helped Pakistan to reach a respectable total of 308 for 9 in 47 overs.
With this series win—his third consecutive ODI series as captain—Rizaw’s leadership was furthered.
Hence, Pakistan ended the long 20-year drought, under his leadership, when he defeated Australia and Zimbabwe too. It included a historic home win over Australia.
