Ruet e Hilal Committee confirmed that moon for the Holy month of Ramadan and was not sighted anywhere in Pakistan.
As a result, the first Roza will be on 2nd March on Sunday.
Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad headed the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting in Peshawar on Friday.
Nationwide meetings of zonal committees for moon sighting took place and officials from the Meteorological Department and SUPARCO participated.
However, no reports of moon sightings were received from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad or Quetta,
According to local media, the central committee was informed of this development.
The Met Office predicted partly cloudy weather in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, for the next 24-hour period.
“Due to cloudy weather, the chance of sighting the Ramadan moon is low,” the department said.
The PMD noted that at sunset, the moon’s age would be around 12 hours, with a moon-sun angular separation of about five degrees. These factors will further reduce visibility, they said.
SUPARCO earlier forecast that Ramadan would probably commence after sunset on Saturday, based on lunar visibility calculations
