Vladimir Putin, The President of Russia, was open to discussing with Donald Trump, the Kremlin said on Friday.
The incoming U.S. president, Donald Trump, in his statement said that the meeting between both leaders was already under plan.
The nearly three-year conflict between Russia and Ukraine might be brought to an abrupt end, says Trump. He added that he still hasn’t shown a concrete approach to make that happen.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized that Putin is ready to talk to other leaders, including Trump.
Speaking at his club in Mar-a-Lago on Thursday, Trump told Republican governors that he was setting up a meeting with Putin.
He reiterated that Putin had publicly said he wanted to meet and emphasized the need to end the conflict, which he called a “bloody mess.”
The Kremlin received Trump’s attitude to settle all disputes amicably and said that there were no preconditions for meeting.
Peskov explained that it was the political will of both sides and the intention to settle disputes through dialogue, which mattered here.
Trump spoke optimistically; however, this has caused discomfort in Ukraine for a possible peace agreement that can benefit Moscow.
The Ukrainian foreign ministry denied Trump’s statement on the possibility of a meeting with Putin, just like every other previous statement.
A spokesman for the ministry, Georgiy Tykhy, stated Ukraine’s wish for justice in the conflict’s end.
Meanwhile, Tykhy reiterated that Ukraine was ready for high-level talks between Washington and Kyiv, including a meeting between Zelensky and Trump after the inauguration.
